Multi-media combination...
I liked making the ornaments so much I am thinking of trying to combine the foam egg idea with making a doll. I can combine the clay head, arms and legs with the needle felted foam body. Should make a fat yet light fairy. Anyone have any experience with something like this? Any tips to offer? Off to experiment.. :o)

The ornaments are done!! YEAH
Okay , so here are the ornaments I came up with. Saw an artist in Art Doll Quarterly that combined polymer clay with needle felting and thought it would work wonderful for ornaments, making them lighter and (since they are animals) fuzzier. Anyway, this is how they turned out.. clay faces and feet.. penguin wings are felted. Made them on 'Smooth Foam' eggs. Pics a little fuzzy itself I see... sorry, but I think you can get the idea.

Now for the ornies...
Two out of three ornies are done.. polar bear, reindeer, and penguin yet to come. Adding the names on was a lot easier then I thought, I hope she thinks they are as cute as my girls do. Should be able to finish the last tonight ( while watching Office,, my latest guilty pleasure/ obssesion :o) and hopefully post pics tomorow. I am so glad that spring is finally here I dont even mind thinking about Christmas this early in the year.

wow, its been almost a year...
Since the last time I posted. Time flies... Now with spring in the air and my creativity on its way back I thought Id try this again. I finished Walter the Fairy fixer and made him a little fairy to hold ( which escaped and broke in the process.). I think to replace it Im going to try something combining clay and needle felting. I have also started a new "mother earth"type figure... she has a rather gorgeous tassle for her hair. And Im making ornaments ( yep Christmas ornies) examples for one of the ladies at work to look at. She has 10 or 12 nieces and nephews so Ill need that order soon. Anyway, Im going to search out the camera and see what I can do for pics... maybe by tomorow???
Happy claying

Whats your least favorite part of doll making?
I must admit, if I could get away with it I would make every doll with his hands in his pockets or wearing mittens. I seem to have a problem keeping the scale down to size, at least four hands get made for every sculpt and even then Im not entirely happy!!! Love the faces, like the shoes, costuming is fun... but man oh man... I dont like doing hands!
Anyway, got them done today, just waiting for the shears to dry and I should have pics tomorrow for you. Then on to the boots!!

PS Its snowing as I write this. Yes the middle of April and the clouds have seen fit to dump 1/2 inch of snow in my yard. Im starting a petition for better spring weather... will you sign? :o)
